HLANGANANI SCHOOL NEWS FOR THIS WEEK

Good nutrition is essential for learning, but many learners don’t get enough healthyfoods in their diet. School gardens are proven for reversing this trend. Recently, a plot of land in the school yard was made available to grow crops. With the help of Mrs Vuyisile Abigail Mthembu (Agricultural Advisor) who donated the seeds and also helped the school on how to start vegetable garden.

The school is proud to have a beautiful small garden that is well maintained by the maintenance staff. The main aim
is to increase the garden to teach the children how to grow crops. It is important to get children involved in growing as it gives a good understanding of where food comes from, and is exciting introduction to biology for primary school children. The school will try to fit the school garden into the available term time. Carol J Michel once said “if you want to change your world, plant a garden.”
