Hlanganani school news 02 May 2023

The school choir led by Miss Buyi Xolo and assisted by Miss Mbali Makaye and Miss
Thoblie Hlophe, is a vibrant and lively choir consisting of learners mostly from Grade 6
and Grade 7.

The choir is busy practising accapela songs and exploring different cultural
songs. The learners are exposed to popular music and the choir tries to incorporate
these popular songs. Learners are also encouraged to compose music as this may help
them to discover hidden talents.

According to different studies children who sing in choirs develop advanced skills in
Teamwork, Leadership and Perseverance. Children who sing in choirs get significantly
better grades, improved memory and homework habits and are better team players.
Singing in a choir not only adds the beauty of music to a child’s life but also lifelong skills,
and character traits that will have a huge influence on the choices they make as adults.

We wish our Netball and Volleyball teams all the very best as they prepare to play at the
Port Shepstone Senior Primary Winter Sports day on Saturday.
